Kittl's 2024 year in review: Celebrating a year of growth and innovation

As we wrap up 2024, it’s time to look back on an incredible year for Kittl. From powerful feature launches to exciting new partnerships, new educational resources, and growing our community, this year has been nothing short of amazing. Here’s a breakdown of everything we’ve accomplished and what you can expect as we head into 2025.

Powerful features and tools launched in 2024

Quick export feature

We also introduced the quick export feature, allowing you to download selected elements of your design without toggling layers or affecting your workspace. With just a click, you can export effortlessly.

Erase tool + erase and fill

One of the most highly anticipated updates this year was the eraser tool and the erase + fill feature. The eraser tool lets you click on any object or illustration and remove unwanted elements, making it especially handy for touching up AI-generated art. The erase + fill feature takes it further by letting you fill in the erased areas with the background color or texture, keeping your designs seamless.

Shape tools

This year we released the shape tool which allows you to quickly select some of the most common shapes from an easy access panel in the editor. From there you can draw your element in any shape and size you need. This handy new feature enables you to create custom shapes without searching the elements panel.

Rounding corners feature

We also released a new feature that allows you to round corners of our basic shapes. All you have to do is select and adjust the anchor points of your shape to create smooth, rounded edges. This release is built to help streamline your workflow and allow more easy customization.

New real-life mockups

Here’s something exciting: we’ve added a new collection of real-life mockups featuring members of our very own Kittl team! During a recent team off-site in Berlin, we organized a photoshoot with Kittl employees modeling popular brands like Gildan, Bella Canvas, and Comfort Colors. While we’re still uploading more images, you can already start using them in the mockup generator in the editor. These realistic mockups make it super easy to see how your designs look on real people.

New blending modes

Responding to user demand, we added 12 new blending modes to give you greater control over textures, images, and elements. With this update, you can achieve the exact look you’re after in your designs.

Presentation mode

The new presentation feature lets you present your designs directly in Kittl without needing to export them. It’s perfect for showcasing your work to clients or colleagues and allows real-time updates. Any changes you make to your project will automatically reflect in the presentation.

We recently used this feature ourselves during our live Community event, and it worked beautifully! You can create fully customizable, visually stunning slides and present them just as you would with a PowerPoint presentation.

Brand kits and brand assets

We enhanced our brand kits by introducing the brand assets feature. Now, in addition to saving your favorite fonts, colors, and effects, you can store images, elements, and illustrations in one place.

Plus, if you edit a saved vector asset, changes will automatically apply to your projects, saving you tons of time. This new feature makes working on branded and themed projects seamless, allowing you to create more designs, more efficiently.

Quick add artboards and social media presets

For faster workflows, we introduced the quick add artboard button, making it simple to expand your workspace. Additionally, we added social media size presets for platforms like Instagram, so you no longer have to manually input dimensions for your projects. This update is designed to save you time and energy, allowing you to focus on creating.

AI updates: Kittl CoPilot and sets generator

Our AI-powered tools saw major advancements this year. The Kittl CoPilot prompt box now assists with design elements and text generation. The new AI sets generator, however, is a game changer, allowing you to generate multiple art pieces in the same style simultaneously, ensuring consistency across designs.

Content and educational resources

Monotype partnership: 130+ professional fonts

We’re thrilled to share we partnered with Monotype this year to bring over 130 iconic fonts like Helvetica, Futura, Times New Roman, and Bodoni to Kittl. We added 520 fonts this year, including trendy styles like surreal and ink trap fonts, bringing us to a total of 1,140 fonts!

Design bundles

This year, we introduced design bundles, collections of assets, fonts, illustrations, and templates. These design bundles are curated collections of complimentary design assets that form a seamless visual identity. Think of it as having a curated marketplace at your fingertips, right in Kittl.

Revamped home page

We refreshed the Kittl home page with a brand-new design to better highlight our features and provide a glimpse of exciting updates coming in 2025.

Educational content: Typography and color theory

We launched our first-ever blog learning series. This 7-day masterclass, designed for beginners and pros alike, covers color theory fundamentals, branding strategies, and professional design tips with daily guides delivered straight to your inbox.

Each lesson features visual examples, expert insights, hands-on challenges, and case studies for an in-depth understanding of color's role in professional design. We also created an exclusive thank-you gift unique to this series for everyone who joins. We also launched an in-depth video masterclass on the evolution of typography! Graphic designer and Community Manager, Drew, led this masterclass, covering the history and importance of typography in modern design. Growing and strengthening our community

Reddit and Discord updates

We launched the official Kittl subreddit, creating a space for creators and designers to connect, share designs, and ask questions. Over on Discord, we revamped the server with new channels, added expert creators, and made it easier for users to interact with product managers and developers.

Looking ahead, we’re planning in-person events to connect with designers and creators in meaningful ways. These will focus on topics like pricing your work, growing your design business, and mastering creative tools.
